A trip to Dimmitt, Texas wouldn't be complete without finding some fun things to do in the area. Dimmitt sits in the Texas Panhandle, putting it close to many great attractions. Amarillo is the largest nearby city but there's still plenty to do in the smaller cities of Dimmitt, Hereford, and Canyon. Come explore the natural beauty of West Texas with a trip to one of these locations. Some additional fun activities that Castro County has to offer are the Castro County Museum, historical markers throughout the county, skate park, feed yards (we are one of the largest beef and dairy producers in the state.), dairies, farms, sunsets, Quanah Parker Arrows throughout the county, Castro County Harvest Days, Ogallala Quilt Festival, and a Gun Museum in Nazareth.

Dimmitt Country Club

Dimmitt Country Club sits on the west end of town and offers excellent golfing accommodations. The nature of the course is long fairways with large greens. This semi-private course, which has been open since 1966, features nine holes and is open year-round. The cost of this course is $14 on all days of the week. If you don't have your own clubs, you can rent some from the shop as well as a cart. Spend some time on the links with a trip to Dimmitt Country Club.

Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge

Wanting to get out and enjoy West Texas outdoors? Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge is the place to go as it features a significant amount of short grass prairie. About 175 aces of this land carry the National Natural Landmark designation. The land is also within the Central Flyway route, making it a great place to catch numerous migratory birds heading to their wintering areas. There's a lot of great wildlife to see at Buffalo Lake so take a day trip from Dimmitt to check it out.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park

Palo Duro Canyon State Park is home to the second-largest canyon in the country and it's within a short distance from Dimmitt. Palo Duro Canyon offers 30 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails as well as plenty of other fun outdoor activities to keep you busy. The canyon juxtaposes with the rest of the flat landscape of West Texas thanks to its stunning rock formations and steep cliffs. There is an entry fee to the park, costing adults $8 per day and children 12 and under being free. Palo Duro Canyon State Park is a great place to spend the day.

Caprock Canyon

Caprock Canyon offers a scenic drive, Lake Theo, fishing, swimming, marveling at bison and bats, horseback riding, biking, camping, and geocaching. Water and wind have formed this beautiful canyon that offers over 90 miles of trails to explore.
